Organic Traffic

Visitors who arrive by clicking an unpaid search result, as opposed to ads, links from other sites, or typing your address directly.

Organic vs. everything else

Analytics tools split your visitors by how they arrived: organic (clicked an unpaid search result), paid (clicked an ad), direct (typed your address or used a bookmark), and referral (followed a link from another site). Organic is the one SEO works on — it's what you earn by ranking on the SERP.

Why it's worth the wait

Paid traffic stops the moment you stop paying. A page that ranks keeps bringing visitors month after month at no extra cost, and a site that ranks for one keyword usually starts picking up dozens of neighboring ones. That compounding is the whole appeal of SEO — and the reason it takes months rather than days to show results.

Getting traffic is half the story

A thousand organic visitors who leave immediately are worth less than a hundred who stick around. That's why it matters what visitors do after the click — whether they stay, read, and come back. It's also why Unhidden's analytics only counts visitors arriving from search engines and AI assistants: the point is to see whether the traffic you worked for actually behaves like the right audience.
